OPENFOAM VALIDATION CASES
Ahmed body
Hereafter, we compute the flow about the classical Ahmed body [1]. In this case, we compare the numerical results obtained with OpenFOAM, against the experimental results obtained in references [2, 3]. The simulations were conducted for a slant angle of 25 degrees and a velocity of 40 m/s.

Experimental value | OpenFOAM value | Percent Difference (%) | |
---|---|---|---|
\( c_d \) | 0.305 | 0.2986 | 2.09 |
warning The experimental values were extracted from plots illustrated in references [2,3].
We can not guarantee the accuracy or precision of this information.
Note 1: the meshes were generated using a third-party application.
Note 2: the results were obtained using the k-omega 2006 turbulence model.
